近年、従来のように形の決まったインタフェースに限らず、ダイナミックに形状の変化するインタフェースが研究分野では注目を集めています。我々は、空気で膨らむインフレータブルな素材や、折り紙やメタマテリアルなどの構造を駆使することにより、それらの形状変化インタフェースを社会に実装していきます。例えば、これまでに空気で膨らむ柔らかく安全で持ち運び可能なパーソナルモビリティ「poimo」などを研究してきましたが、今後は別な形状変化の方式を探るとともに、社会で実際に使えるpoimoを目指します。
Instead of the conventional static user interfaces we see in our lives, shape-changing interfaces that can dynamically change their shapes are recently drawing attention in the research field of human-computer interaction. By leveraging materials like inflatable fabrics and structure like origami and metamaterials, we deploy such shape-changing interfaces to our society. For example, we previously proposed “poimo,” portable and inflatable personal mobility devices. We plan to explore an alternative approach of shape change with different properties, while making the current poimo devices more usable and available to real users and the market.
